Degree-day model
The degree-day (DD) approach (Braithwaite, 1995; Hock, 1999) simulates snow and ice melt at the glacier surface from the sum of positive DD (PDD, i.e. the sum of daily mean temperatures above the melting point over a given period of time) and distinct melt factors for snow and ice identified from observations.
